A fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a diagnostic procedure used to assess the malignancy of a growth or bump on the body. As the name implies, a needle is used to give this test. After a small sample is removed for testing, scraped tissue is sent to a lab for analysis. A superficial lump on the breast or neck that is palpable (feelable with the touch) or impalpable (not easily felt with the touch) can be identified with the FNAC test.
