They assess issues with the inner ear, such as hearing specific tones and balance. Simple tests are usually used by the audiologist to assess your hearing abilities. A questionnaire list and listening to whispered voices, tuning forks, or tones from an ear examination scope are examples. To conduct the test and determine the specific type of hearing loss, a special tuning fork is used. It is typically tapped and placed near each ear to assess hearing ability via air conduction. To test bone conduction, it tapped and held against the bone behind each ear (i.e., the mastoid bone).
